A CLOSE SHAVE...

           Briti reached home with heavy heart. She started thinking of Sudeep and his love for her. She never thought that Sudeep loves her so much. She felt the way he proposed was so amazing. She had a delicious indolence thinking of that memorable day. Meanwhile, her father was busy in the process of her admission into college. He had selected the best college in the city. Briti joined in college. New college…new place…new friends…

        

          One day, she received a message from Yayin asking how she was. Quite a few messages were exchanged asking the whereabouts of each other’s. From that day, Yayin was in regular contact with Briti. Briti shared about Sudeep’s proposal with Yayin. Though, he felt bad at heart, he sounded astounded with his excitement. He shared her joy and excitement by forgetting that he was in love with her. But he never expressed his feelings for her. May be this is the true love. Loving the loved ones happiness and sharing the opinions.

       

        They both became very close friends. Both of them awaited each other’s message. Sudeep was also sending at least one love quote per day and was chatting for some time. But Briti never showed her sign of love in any form. She used to chat very normally, as if nothing had happened. But Sudeep wanna hear from her. He wanna know how she felt, what she was thinking and all. Sudeep was expecting Briti to share her feelings and show her love. Sometimes, he was ambiguous and thought whether Briti accepted his love or not.

      

             Days were going on… Briti was daily going to college coming back doing her work and chatting with Yayin and Sudeep for some time. This became her routine. Then, it was exams season. Briti switched off her mobile so that she could prepare well for exams. This made both Yayin and Sudeep feel lacuna in their daily life. They became restless. But for Briti, it was exams in her schedule and nothing more. She was preparing for the exam which was on the next day. Sudeep had made a call to Briti’s home and enquired why her phone was switched off. Her mother told that she had exams and so she was preparing seriously. He asked for her and wished her ‘All the best’ for her exams.

        

        The next morning in college, all set for the exam. Briti got ready to face the exam. The classroom had both seniors and juniors from different groups. There were ten more minutes for the exam to be started. All of a sudden, someone caught Briti’s eyes. A boy, who was tall and handsome, entered the classroom. He really had some catchy looks. She was looking at him but in a way which couldn’t be noticed by him. He was walking towards Briti. She felt he was coming to her and started feeling tense. But he walked from the side of Briti’s seat and met his friends. Briti relaxed and took a deep breath. That was the first time Briti saw him in the college. Then from back of her, someone whispered, “Hi, Can you give me your record after exam?” She turned back and was at sixes and sevens after seeing him there. She didn’t understand what to say. She told, “Ok, brother. I’ll give.” He was shocked to listen to the word brother. 

        

      Meanwhile, she confirmed with him whether she could call him brother or not. He agreed but reluctantly at heart. In that way, she got an older brother. From that day onwards, she became very familiar with seniors.

             

              Every lecturer and teacher from school (the institution had classes from KG to UG) knew her. She was very studious and actively participated in presentations and seminars but not sports. For every college function, she was the one who did anchoring; from introducing the chief guest to giving vote of thanks, her voice and her presence must be there. She even got some good friends from her class and they used to have lunch together. She was enjoying fame in her college days. She became the most sort after girl in that institution.

            

            She completed her first year graduation with good grades. And the chat with Yayin and Sudeep started again. Both of them messaged that they were missing her so much. She laughed seeing those messages. Yayin enquired if she was coming to city for the vacation. Briti replied that she was not sure of that. As that was vacation time, Sudeep asked her to come to his home. She told that she would try. She asked her parents whether she could go to grandparent’s home for vacation. They said ok. So, she got ready and packed her luggage. 

                Sudeep phoned her and informed her that he was coming to take her to his home. He informed Briti’s parents too. Meanwhile, Briti messaged Yayin that she was coming to Sudeep’s house. Yayin made her promise that she would meet Yayin.

           Sudeep reached Briti’s home and they all had lunch together. Sudeep with Briti and her siblings started after lunch in his car. He asked Briti to sit in the front seat and she followed him. It’s a four hour journey. During the journey Sudeep had a nice chat with his cousins until they fell asleep. Then, he started looking at Briti and was thinking about her… “O man! Look at her eyes…they are so vivacious and the most beautiful eyes that I have ever seen. The bright honey-coloured eyes look just like the eyes of a peacock… Those eyes are so intoxicating. Look at her nose… it’s perfectly sculptured. O God…! You are really a skilled artist, how can you make such a perfect and beautiful face. What can I say about those lips, the tender-cherry coloured lips? Every time I tried to talk to you my eyes ask me to look at your lips. Your lips always make me feel like touching them with my fingers and I wanna squeeze them with mine. Your voice is so mesmerizing and very soothing than anything in this world. I love to listen to your voice. It’s like a bird’s chirping. What happened to the atmosphere? It is scented with your fragrance taking me to my dreamland where I wanna spend time making love with you. Briti… all I need is you, only you by my side always, whispered Sudeep looking at her a little louder. She turned to him and asked Sudeep what. He mumbled, “nothing…nothing”

               He again lost in her thoughts looking at her curly hair which was flying like the waves of the ocean. Sudeep…! Look straight…. screamed Briti. They had a close shave with another vehicle which was passing by.

             Briti asked Sudeep, “Where were you lost? What are you thinking of? Sudeep parked the vehicle at parking place and apologised Briti for his unmindful driving. He then admitted that he was thinking of her. He told, “Briti, please don’t ever leave me. I want you by my side all the time. You are meant for me. Your smile, your voice, your eyes… everything takes my breath away. I feel like I can’t live without.”

Briti said, “Please Sudeep, let us go home first. It’s getting dark. We can speak at home. Be mindful while driving.” Sudeep said ok and drove them home safe in 30 minutes. 

            Briti went to her grandparents and took their blessings and hugged them. She then met Sudeep’s parents, greeted them and took their blessing too. Sudeep’s mother said, “Briti go and take rest. We are going to temple tomorrow morning. So, you have to wake up early.” Sudeep asked Briti to come to balcony.

The Memorable Day

                       

                            Having heard that Briti was going with her parents the next day, Sudeep enquired at what time exactly were they going? He came to know that they were going in the evening. His friends came to him and said, “Only a day is there with you. What will you do? How will you make Briti think of you? Yaar, you have to make the day a memorable, magical and remarkable day.”
              Sudeep said, “Don’t worry friends. I have a plan and I need your help for that.” They agreed to help him in his endeavour and he shared his plan with him. They all were ready with their tasks for the next morning. That night, Sudeep couldn’t sleep. He was thinking of Briti, her pleasant smile, her large innocent beautiful eyes… they were not letting him sleep. He wanna impress her. He wanna show her how much he loves her. He couldn’t imagine his life without her. With the thoughts of Briti in his mind, he fell into sleep in the early hours of the morning.

           The sun came from behind the dark clouds by tearing the veil of darkness. It shone his rays on the pretty faces of both Briti and Sudeep at the same time from their windows. Both have woken up instantly at a time. At the dining table while all were having their breakfast, Sudeep told he was going outside to temple and some sightseeing places with his friends and he wanted to take Briti with him. Briti was shocked seeing his dare approach and was wishing her parents should say no. But the elders laughed and told, “As you wish. He will miss her and so he wanted to spend some time, isn’t it Sudeep said Jane.” Sudeep was very happy and asked Briti to get ready.
     
             After sometime, Sudeep, Briti and his friends left the home for temple. That temple was a famous one in that area. It was situated on the banks of river and the river had an island with beautiful resorts. It was a beautiful landscape. They reached the temple and had dharshan. Sudeep prayed to God to make them together and make Briti accept his love. While coming out of the temple, they saw a couple where a husband was carrying his wife in his arms. After seeing that surprised and startled his friends asked Sudeep about it. Sudeep told that it was the tradition of that place. Husbands carry their wives to this temple after their marriage for blessings and for children. “So, you too have to carry your wife after your marriage,” ridiculed one of his friends. Sudeep felt shy and Briti walked away.
  
        Then they went to the island, which was very famous, by boat. Briti, loves travelling by waterways. Though, it was nearby, she was pretty much fascinated. She enjoyed the weather, the breeze and the water which is very clean and transparent. Sudeep stood just behind her and was feeling more excited by smelling the fragrance of her hair when Briti’s hair fell on his face due to air. He wanted to take her into his arms and look into her eyes for long time.

          They reached the island. Sudeep stepped down and gave his hand to Briti. But, she managed to get down without holding his hands, for which Sudeep felt bad. They went to a tree called the wish tree. It was a tree to which people generally tie their wishes by writing on a paper. Sudeep went there and wrote his wish, the wish to be with Briti throughout his life, as a happy couple. He tied it with the help of a little cloth. Sudeep’s friends asked Briti to write her wish. She denied saying that she didn’t believe in such superstitions. But what went unnoticed by all of them was Sudeep’s wish tie was untied by air. So it fell on the ground.
        
         They wanted to go for trekking. They asked Briti whether she was interested. She told, she would rather join them and started. They reached the top. They enjoyed the view from there. They could see the whole city standing on the hill. While Briti was enjoying the view, Sudeep stood behind her seeing her happiness and joy in her face. Suddenly she slipped while moving and talking to Sudeep and he held her hand and pulled her. While pulling he held her tight dragged towards him and she fell on him looking into his eyes.

        Meanwhile, his friends were busy implementing their plan. She saw a big balloon with her name on it flying in the sky. She was amazed, seeing that. The balloons started flying one after the other forming a cluster finally. The cluster made an appearance of her face. It was really amazing. Due to technology, we are able to make anything; in fact we could make wonders. One... one balloon finally became a cluster making her face. Every balloon had Sudeep’s and Briti’s names on it. Briti had a look at them but shown no difference in her face as if she didn’t notice anything. She was as normal as before. She behaved as if she didn’t see anything. She was feeling very happy from inside but acted as she didn't see it.

       Sudeep's friends were confused. They were unable to understand whether she saw the balloons are not. They were talking with one another asking for any signs from her. But she didn’t leave any sign on her face. Later, Sudeep and Briti left along with his friends to a hotel. It was an open air hotel, in which he reserved a table the previous day. The table was placed just a few feet away from the water. They can see the river and the temple which they had visited then very clearly. It’s really an amazing place. He ordered Briti’s favourite dishes. They thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food, the cool weather and the beauty of the nature.
            
                 After having food, they wanted to return. While returning from the island on boat everyone asked Briti to sing and she sang a song after much pressure from them and with shy. Seeing her singing, Sudeep felt like some angel was singing it. He was very happy. He felt he was enjoying the day thoroughly each moment filled with Briti’s thoughts, with Briti.

Now, the actual surprise awaited Briti.
     
          They all walked to the woods from the temple.The sun was moving towards west and shone his rays on the woods. They reached a place where there were many trees with full of yellow flowers. They stopped there. It was really one of the most beautiful places. The rays of the sun were falling through the trees filled with golden and yellow flowers and hitting them warmly on a cool day. Even the path was filled with the fallen yellow flowers, making the place more romantic. Briti was mesmerised in the lap of the nature. 

            Meanwhile, one of Sudeep’s friends offered her a chair in the middle of the woods. She wondered how the chair had come from nowhere. Then, she listened to a tune which came from behind and turned back. There stood Sudeep with a guitar. He played a song and sang it looking into her eyes. The song was written and composed by him for her. All were very much impressed including Briti.

        After singing the song Sudeep went to Briti. She stood up seeing Sudeep. Her eyes were filled up with joy, appreciation, excitement and bliss. He handed over the guitar to one of his friends and took a bunch of red roses. Then, he bent on his knees and proposes Briti with a bunch of red roses. Her heart was beating faster and faster. Sudeep’s friends are waiting anxiously. They wished Briti accepted Sudeep’s love. She never had that feeling before. She couldn’t see Sudeep straight into his face. Sudeep was still on his knees, waiting for the reply from Briti. She took that bunch of red roses and ran away crying. She was emotional. She felt his love for the first time. She didn’t understand how to handle the situation so, she left the place. 

Briti... You are the love of my life!
Don't run away from me...

            Sudeep was shocked to see her reaction. He was happy and confused at the same time.  Happy because of Briti’s acceptance of the roses and confused because Briti ran away crying. His friends approached him in shock. Sudeep in a dejected mood said to his friends, “Why, what’s wrong with me? Why couldn’t she understand my feelings? Why did she run away?” His friends replied, “It’s a sign from her. She is feeling your love dude. She will definitely accept you. Come on… it’s time to party.” Having listened to his friends’ words, Sudeep felt relaxed. 

         He went to Briti who was waiting at the car. They all left for home. Briti's parents were waiting for her. Having reached home, Briti got ready and left that place taking blessing from her grandparents and Sudeep's parents. She departed to home with heavy heart, which was filled with lots of feelings and many memories. 

The soulmate is the one who awaits you, who lives for you and with you.

           All of them enjoyed the picnic well and returned home. There was one more week for Sudeep to go to college. He wanna impress Briti and make her love him. Meanwhile, Sudeep’s father was thinking about Briti’s admission into college. And he was searching for a good college. Sudeep advised his father to join Briti in his university as the studies were good and he was also being there. But his father was afraid of sending Briti that long a distance. He said, “Anyway Briti’s parents are coming tomorrow and we will sit together and decide which college to choose”. Sudeep thought of convincing Briti’s parents to make her study in the same university where Sudeep was.

                  Briti’s parents came the next day. After having breakfast together, Sam (Briti’s father) and Kishan (Sudeep’s father) with their wives started talking about Briti’s admission into college. Granny also joined them. Meanwhile, Sudeep went there and proposed to take admission for Briti in his university. And his friends who were with him supported him by saying yes.

     

             Kishan brought a list of good colleges in that place. Briti was observing all this, from the window of her room. Kishan was showing the top five colleges in that city to Sam. For that, Sam laughed and said, “We want Briti to stay with us and study. Anyhow, she had to come here after marriage.” Jane (Briti’s mother), smiled at Sudeep and said, “See! how anxious and caring Sudeep is for his fiancé. He wanted her to study in the same university where he is studying. Don’t worry Suddep; your fiancé will be happy with us.”

The unknown fact is, both the families have decided to make Sudeep and Briti, a couple when Briti was born.

              By hearing Jane’s words, Sudeep started feeling shy and his friends started teasing him. But over there, Briti was so frustrated to listen that and became furious. She wondered and said, “How can these people fix my marriage without even considering my feelings and my opinion!”

              Sudeep went to his room and started feeling like never before. He was lost in his thoughts. He felt the presence of Briti with him. He could smell the fragrance of the mist. He started feeling her in every particle in the air. He gently touched the smooth hands of Briti and took her nearer to him. He held Briti’s soft, black and silky hair which was like waves of the ocean and slowly reached the head and took it into his right hand. He had taken the hair falling on her cheeks back, and kissed her soft, milky forehead gently and indulged in that feeling. He could smell her and feel her. He was running his hands on her cheeks and felt the soft skin. 

        

        He couldn’t resist himself from taking her into his arms. He hugged her by resting his chin on her shoulders. He liked the smell of her hair. And the cool breeze which was coming from the window touched his face by blowing Briti’s hair.  

               

You are my life Briti...

   He then slowly took the hair and kept it at the back of her ear. He was enjoying the bliss while laying his head on her shoulders. He took a deep breath and slowly whispered, “Briti… You are my life… You are the one for me… I need you... I need you every today, and every tomorrow.” He pulled up all his strength and told, “Briti, I…I Love You…” Having said what he wanted to say to her, he felt strong and relaxed.

                He was disturbed and opened his eyes to his friends’ laughing. They were all laughing at him. He told those last few lines outside; not in his heart. They were mocking him. They congratulated him and demanded a treat by falling on him in the bed. They had left him only when he told them he would give treat the next day. Suddenly, they heard someone's calling them for lunch. So, they all went to dining hall.

                 All the members of the family including Briti and friends are there. They started discussing… “So… you wanna take her from here now?, asked Kishan. "I already told you that, we wanted her to spend at least the years when she graduates with us. Anyway, afterwards, she will become your girl and she will be all yours then,” replied Sam. Even, granny and grandpa asked Sam to allow her study by being with them, as they were used to her. 

                But at last, everyone agreed to Sam’s decision. Sam and Jane wanted to go home with Briti the next day. And the entire family wanted to spend some time watching film in theatre that night. The next is the day, when Sudeep can see and spend some time with her until he comes back. It would be one year to complete his graduation. This one year would be one era for him.
